Brake Inspections at ATS Euromaster

At ATS Euromaster we offer a choice of two kinds of brake test and inspection, so you can get a good overview of the condition of your brakes no matter what your budget is. We offer a free visual inspection of your car's front brakes, or a full brake inspection, which includes a comprehensive check of your brake pads, discs and more, to give you a complete picture of the condition of your car's brakes.

Think your braking feels abnormal or your car brakes may be starting to become overly worn? Find out more about how to spot failing brakes or worn brake pads. If you do find your brakes are showing signs of wear, having your brakes tested is essential to keeping your car safe and roadworthy.

What our free visual brake test includes

Our complimentary Primary Front Brake Inspection includes a visual check of your brake pads, brake discs, callipers and visible brake pipes. Our experts will examine the condition of your brakes and advise you if any parts appear unsafe or worn.

The visual brake inspection usually takes around 30 minutes to complete.

What our full brake inspections include

Our Full Brake Inspection offers a thorough examination of the condition of all of your brake components. This will ensure your safety, as our first priority, and help prevent more costly repair bills in the future. This inspection provides a comprehensive brake reading and a full braking system check, which includes:

  • Checking digital measurements of brake pad, disc, shoe and drum wear
  • Checking the condition and operation of callipers wheel cylinders
  • Inspecting the condition of brake hoses and brake pipes (checking for leaks or corrosion)
  • Testing handbrake performance and assessing cable and linkage condition
  • Brake Fluid moisture content test
  • Checking master cylinder and servo operation
  • Inspecting brake light condition and operation
  • A full report of the condition of your brakes
  • Free, no obligation quote on any potential work to be carried out

If we find your brake system is in good condition, we will give your system a quick clean and adjustment before reassembling your brake components to ensure optimum performance. The full brake checking service takes roughly an hour to complete.

Our technicians may find that work does need to be carried out on your vehicle's brakes after a full inspection. In this case, the cost of the inspection will be deducted from the brake work if it is carried out within seven days of the inspection.

Brake Check FAQs

Why are my brakes squealing?

If you notice that your brakes are squealing, it's a sign that your brake pads are likely overly worn. Squealing brakes are usually the first sign that your brake pads are worn and need replacing, so you should make sure to get them checked and then replaced if necessary. Find out more about squealing brakes on our blog.

What is a brake check?

At ATS Euromaster we offer a choice of brake inspection services to suit your budget. Our free brake check involves a simple check of such elements of the visible elements of braking system for any apparent wear and tear – we will not remove the wheels specifically to undertake this check, but if the wheels are removed as part of another service purchased then the inspection will include the brake pads, discs and connected components. The operation of the relevant components will be not checked as part of this service.  For full details please click here.

Alternatively, we offer a more detailed full brake inspection that examines both the condition and the operation of your brake pads, discs and calipers.

How long do brake discs last?

Generally, brake discs have a lifespan of around 30,000-70,000 miles before they need replacing. However, like many components in your car, this may depend on usage, your driving style and how often you have a car service.
